Samsung to Reduce the Screen Size of Galaxy S6

Samsung to Reduce the Screen Size of Galaxy S6

Samsung is possibly going backwards with the next edition of its flagship phone. It might be reducing the screen size of Samsung Galaxy S6 to 5 inches. This comes as a surprise as it will be a change in the world of smartphones which tend to have an increased screen size with every release. The rumors got strong when two Samsung mobile phones were revealed with 5 inch displays on an Indian import/export website named Zauba.

5-inch Screen Size

The two mobile phones which were found on the website had model numbers SM-G920F and SM-G920V, each with a 5 inch display. One of the phones is listed for evaluation and testing. The other is listed for evaluation and research and development. Both of the phones are not available for retail sale. According to SlashGear and other sites, both the numbers SM-G920F and SM-G920V have been linked with the Galaxy S6.

Rumored Specs of Samsung S6

Apart from the 5 inch display, there are other rumors about the specs that will be there in Samsung Galaxy S6. Earlier rumors have suggested that S6 will have a Quad HD display with an improved resolution of 2,560X1,440. Though the screen size of 5.1 display of Galaxy S5 is greater than that of S6, its resolution of 1,920X1,080 is much lesser. The rumored higher resolution of S6 would look exceptionally sharp on the 5-inch display.

In another November report from SamMobile, it was stated that the next version of the Samsung Galaxy phone would come with a rear camera of 16 to 20 megapixels and it would run Android 5.0 Lollipop, the latest version of Android.

Samsung Needs to Improve Its Market

With its next Galaxy phone, Samsung needs to improve its market as a dip has come in its mobile-phone business. The smartphone market share dropped last year along with its operating profits. Competitors like Apple have increased their game with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Similarly China-based company Xiaomi has also made some waves with its low-end device. So, if Samsung wants to lead the competition of the world’s largest smartphone vendor, then it needs to up its game with the latest version of Samsung Galaxy- S6.

The company is expected to release Galaxy S6 at the Mobile World Congress which will be held in Barcelona in March.

Are you going to buy the Samsung Galaxy S6? Do you think this rumored decrease in screen size will prove to be beneficial? We would love to hear your thoughts.
