5 iOS 8 Features You Did not Know About

A few days back, Apple updated its iOS 8 to 8.1.2. Changes have been made in this latest version which “addresses a problem where ringtone purchases through the iTunes Store may have been removed from your device.” There are many features in iOS 8 which you might be unaware of. Here we have provided 5 features of iOS 8 which you might not have heard of.

  • Auto delete messages

It is quite natural that you might have a huge archive of text messages, if you are using your iPhone for a long time. This means a lot of unnecessary space is taken up. Now with iOS 8, your old messages can be automatically deleted either after one month or after one year. All you need to do is click on Settings > Messages and move to Message History where you can select the time you would like to keep your old messages.

  • Finding out power consuming apps

With iOS 8, you will be able to find out why your phone is always running out of battery. To learn about the apps which eat away the most of your battery power, you can follow this process: Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage. You will see all the apps that you are using and how much charge they are consuming. This will give you an idea about which app you need to uninstall or close down regularly.

  • Recover photos deleted recently

iOS 8 will have all your deleted photos saved in an album called Recently Deleted, by default. The photos will be there for 30 days before they are permanently deleted. You will find the folder in Photos > Albums. You can however delete the photos before that by opening the album, clicking Select and then Delete All.

  • Mute specific people

If you don’t want specific people disturbing you with unwanted messages, you can mute them from your contacts in the phone. Open the message window, choose Details and click the Do Not Disturb button. Unless you turn the Do Not Disturb button off, you won’t get any message notifications from that contact.

  • Insert images and format words

Apple’s note taking app will now let you use different formatting options like ability to use underline, italics, and bold. Importing images is also now possible. Make sure the notes app is connected with iCloud, if you want to get maximum convenience. Go to Settings > iCloud > Notes. This will help you get updates from different iOS devices. Get an iCloud email ID for this.

These are a few of the features you might not have heard of. If you already use some of these, you can add other features which you think might be helpful for others to use.
