Connected homes are no longer something which we see rarely. Smart devices have become a crucial part of our homes. A smart smoke detector is one such device which could keep your home safe from fires. Halo WX is a smoke detector which can detect smoke and carbon monoxide and at the same time also alerts the users about natural disasters. This feature makes it stand out from other smoke detectors. The project is running an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds. The funding goal has already been achieved. How does this device work? Let us have a look at this post to know more.
What is Halo?
Halo is a combination of sensor technology for smoldering fires, flash fires and carbon monoxide, all in a single device. You won’t get the same level of protection from other smoke alarms at any price. This home-alert system connects with the Internet and other home-automation systems. Users will also be able to get alert notifications and make adjustments in the settings using their Android or iOS app. Mobile users will also get alerts on their phones about the danger even if they are miles away from their home.

The Halo WX
The detection of natural disaster is what makes the Halo WX stand out from its sibling, the Halo. You might think that this feature could also be provided by Internet. However, most of the networks stop working during major disasters. With this feature, you could find out if a tornado is going to hit your town, even being stranded in your home.
A seven day battery backup will keep the device running even if power is off for an extended time period. You can still get important alerts like shelter, evacuation routes, locations of safe drinking water and more.
Other features are the same as that of Halo. It can detect carbon monoxide and fast burning fires quickly. The device can be connected to different home systems and has its own mobile app. A light ring is also there which changes color based on the type of alert. It can also be set to stay static to act as a night light.
You can pre-order Halo and Halo WX through Indiegogo. The campaign has 20 days to go. It has already achieved its funding goal of $50,000. If you want the Halo WX, you can get it for $100 and the Halo is available for $60. Shipping is expected to start in October.
