How the Gadgets will help you?
With the new gadgets, the serving times will speed up and you will be able to enjoy your favorite burger in your own way. You can either add or remove any ingredients like bacon, lettuce, cheese or tomato. If you want to add any of these items, you have to pay a small fee.
If you want to add things like pickles, onions, ketchup or mustard, you don’t have to pay anything extra.
You will be taken through a clerk-free customizing process with these touch-screen kiosks which look like giant iPods. You get to choose from an assortment of toppings, sauces, buns and cheeses. You can select from a range of items.
You will also get to see a window alongside the order screen as you add the elements. This window will help you deselect any item if you want to remove later. There are other on-screen options with which you can “make it a meal”. You can also add fries or a drink if you want.
Once you are done customizing your burger, you have to pick up a pager and your food will be delivered to your table.
The future of fast food chains will be automation and customization. In the future, most of the cashiers of these chains might be replaced with digital kiosks.
In Response to Other Burger Chains
This move by McDonald’s is thought to be in response to other burger chains which are slowly increasing in popularity, like Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Byron Burger.
Other big US burger chains are also making their entry in the UK. Food chains like Shake Shack and Five Guys have also started opening restaurants in the UK. Even rumors are abound that Google might also be getting into this burger business.
Have you used these digital touchscreen kiosks yet? Will you be trying them out? We would love to hear your thoughts.
