As promised, we are back with the few more tech innovations that happened in the first half of 2014. The first six months saw a surge in the number of new developments which made a significant effect on our lives. In the first part, we had covered the tech innovations of 2014 n the last six months.
Let us have a look, what 2014 gave us in terms of new technologies. We have started from June and gradually moved to the beginning of the year.

- Launch of First Set of Android Wear
On 25th June, 2014, Google unveiled the first set of smartwatches of Android Wear, its Android mobile software. The smartwatches that were launched, included Samsung Gear Live, LG G Watch and the Motorola Moto 360.
- iOS 8

The new and much-awaited software of Apple was released at WWDC 2014, the company’s annual developers conference. iOS 8 was unveiled for iPhones, iPads and iPods. Interactive notifications, advanced notification centre and other characteristics have been added in this latest version of iOS which was launched on 2nd June, 2014.
- Surface Pro 3

Microsoft launched Surface Pro 3, a new lighter but larger version of its Surface Pro tablet on 20th May, 2014. The tablet was released in an effort to compete with Apple’s Macbook Air laptop and the iPad and make a significant impact on the mobile computing scenario.
- Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy S5, the fifth generation of the Galaxy S series was launched on 24th February, 2014. The smartphone has a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. It runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. It has a memory of 16/32 GB with microSD slot which can provide up to 128GB. With a 2GB RAM and 16 MP camera, this device is a must-have.
- Nokia’s First Android-based phones

On the same day of the release of Samsung Galaxy S5, i.e. on 24th February, 2014, Nokia launched its first set of Android-based phones. Nokia X, X+ and XL were unveiled under the Nokia X series.
- Google Glass Games
On 29th January, 2014, Google unveiled the Google Glass games. The tech giant launched five games for Google Glass. This was done so that developers could be encouraged to design more games for their smart glass which is yet to hit the consumer market.
Apart from these major new developments, there were numerous other small developments which took place in 2014. All in all, this year was a huge improvement over the past year when it came to the development of new and useful technological products.
