Tao Chair- Your Invisible Gym

If you find it tough to get out of your chair and head for the gym, but still you desire to get fit, then this smart chair can be a wonderful solution for your problem. Instead of standing up and working out, all you need to do is sit in this chair and your job is done. The Tao Chair will act like your invisible gym. You can watch your favorite episodes and work out at the same time, without even noticing it. The product was unveiled at the 2015 International CES by tech startup Tao-Wellness.

It is designed to look like a normal lounging chair but it is far more than that. When you sit on the chair, you will be assisted in many ways. It will improve your posture, work out your core, reduce stress, burn calories and strengthen muscles. According to Philo Northrup, the president and co-founder of the company, Tao Chair turns unhealthy sitting into a healthy one.

Northup also told Mashable that “This concept turns downtime into exercise time. People want to be healthier, but find it hard to find the time, especially after work when they want to watch TV with the family. Instead of eating potato chips while relaxing, you can burn calories, tone muscle and keep the heart pumping.”

How Does it Work?

The basic concept that is used in the chair is isometrics, the science of applying pressure. Exercises related to this concept are used by the Tao Chair. To make it work, users have to sit on the chair and pull or push against the padded arms of the Tao Chair with their arms or legs in any direction. As you apply pressure, the chair won’t move like other chairs. So, the arms of the char will give you resistance and the inbuilt sensors track your exercising efforts. There is a small display on one of the arms. This will show you how many calories you have lost along with other workout statistics.

You will be able to learn numerous exercises through the Tao mobile app which syncs with the chair. It also connects to games which will make your experience even more fun.
