Airing Helps You Relieve Sleep Apnea without A Mask

Airing Helps You Relieve Sleep Apnea without A Mask

If you suffer from sleep apnea or know someone having the problem, now there is an easy solution which does not require you to wear those bulky CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) masks which come with straps and a hose that people have to wear during their sleep. Airing LLC, a company based in Burlington, Massachusetts has started a crowdfunding campaign in Indiegogo so that they can bring a micro CPAP device which will be an alternative to the conventional CPAP masks for the sleep apnea patients. The cool device has been named Airing.

Airing

The device will just be available for $3. In its Indiegogo page, the device has been described as the world’s first “hoseless, maskless, cordless micro-CPAP device”. With Airing, sleep apnea patients won’t have to wear bulky and uncomfortable masks. The device weighs 0.9 ounce and fits in your palm. It has two nozzles that fit tightly in your nostrils when you sleep.

The design of Airing is a byproduct of different intentions; the micro-blowers are the main among them, which were initially planned for heat regulation for chips in computers. The micro blowers remove any requirement for external air hoses. These blowers expand and contract within the Airing to create enough pressure so that your throat is open as you breathe in while you are sleeping. This fights sleep apnea and snoring.

The inhalation vent is the key part of the Airing. The company explains “As the patient inhales, air enters through vents and is filtered and drawn into hundreds of micro-blowers that create the precise airway pressure needed.”

The device runs on a zinc-air battery. This means you won’t require any power wires. You just have to “plug” the buds into your nostrils and breathe all night long. The battery runs for eight hours.

Indiegogo Campaign

The funding goal of $100,000 for the campaign was reached within merely two hours. At the time of writing, in eight days, $651,413 has already been raised. The campaign has still 23 days to go i.e. it will end on 15th July, 2015. Shipping is expected to start in July next year. You can pledge your funds and get the device at a lesser price than its retail price.
